The PTA will be discussing at the SGM, the adoption of the ParentKind Constitution - to replace our current constitution.
During the meeting, we will ask for any questions or feedback, before putting the proposal to adopt a new Constitution to a vote. Note: only elected Officers can vote, but we value the input and feedback from our members as it is our role to represent the parent community in this PTA.
If you have any questions or feedback in the meantime, you can contact us at hello@wilsteadpta.com.
Rationale for adopting this Constitution is due to:
Our existing Constitution presents a conflict of interest (clause 7), as teachers should not be permitted to vote within a PTA.
Our existing Constitution creates confusion (clause 10), as a Vice Chair is mentioned, but not listed as an elected Officer.
Our existing Constitution is conflicted (clause 16), as is suggests parents of children who have left the school can continue to be members. This is not possible as that would require the charity to be a Parent-Teacher and Friends Association, rather than a PTA.
The ParentKind Constitution is clearer and more comprehensive.
The ParentKind Constitution is pre-approved by the Charities Commission, so provides a seamless switch-over process.
