A Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) is a group of parents, teachers and school staff who work together to support their school and community. Every parent and carer of pupils at Wilstead Primary School is automatically a member of Wilstead PTA.
Wilstead PTA is a registered charity (#1056259).
The committee is responsible for the management of the PTA, and is made up of the Head Teacher and Deputy Head, plus three elected members taking on the officer roles of Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. Our committee meets regularly throughout the year to discuss plans, ideas and funding requests from the school.
Open Meetings
We host open meetings at least once per term. All PTA members (all parents and carers of school pupils) are welcome, and encouraged to attend and get involved.
You can find out more about our next meeting and upcoming events on our Events page. Most open meetings are virtual, so you can join from your sofa on your mobile, tablet or computer.
Annual General Meetings (AGMs)
We host an AGM once each year in October to report on the PTAs activities, celebrate successes and thank our supporters for their help throughout the year. It's also an opportunity to elect new committee members and/or re-appoint existing committee members.
Any PTA member can choose to volunteer at any time. Volunteering can take many forms, from sourcing supplies and coordinating activities to providing refreshments and supporting events in-person.
Volunteering can be a lot of fun, meeting other parents, getting to know the school better and becoming an integral part of the important work of the PTA.
Wilstead Primary School can apply to the PTA for a grant to secure funds for the provision of equipment and items to support the education of the school's pupils.
Examples of ways in which the PTA may use funds include IT equipment, school trips, library materials, guest speakers, playground equipment and classroom supplies.
