Did you know, all parents and carers of pupils are PTA members?
Helping the PTA can be very rewarding, making a valuable contribution to improving school life, while getting to know other families and teachers. We appreciate your support, and don't need you to commit to ongoing commitments. Ways you can help range from face painting at an event, giving feedback, gifting prizes or listening to children read.
There are also more formal ways to get involved, like becoming an PTA committee member. Which means you have an official role in the management of the PTA and are a legally appointed trustee of the charity. Find out more here.

Being a committee member of a PTA means taking on a formal role in the association’s activities. The committee is legally responsible for the charity, it's property and it's funds.
Responsibilities typically include attending meetings, making decisions about fundraising and school support, and ensuring the PTA runs effectively.
There are two types of committee members, officers and ordinary members.
Officer members have well defined responsibilities and include the Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary, each with specific duties such as overseeing meetings, managing finances, and handling communications.
Ordinary members have the same voting rights as officer members, but don't have to take on as much involvement as them. The role of ordinary members offers a good introduction to the PTA committee for those who can't commit to an officer role but want to be involved.
Becoming a committee member helps you to represent parents' voices, collaborate with school staff, and help enhance the educational experience for all students.
The roles of ordinary committee members offer a good introduction to your PTA’s committee for those who wish to be fully involved in the association, but perhaps don’t want to commit to an officer role.
